What You Need To Take Your Business Online

You have a successful business, but you don’t have an online presence. Or you’re just starting out and you want to get online STAT, here’s what you need to do.

1. Get your Domain

If you’re starting a business, then you must think of a company name and perhaps even a brand name if that will be different to your company name. Once you have your name, you should buy the domain for it.

You can use sites like godaddy.com or look up domain sites that will let you buy a domain specific to the country you’re in so you can have a domain that’s .ng or .in or .uk.

2. Build a Website

A website is essential when starting off online! It’s the place where users will come to when they want to buy something from you or want to know a bit more about you. It also helps your business look more professional.

You can either get help with creating the website or you can use sites like Wix.com or wordpress.com to build your website and then link it to your domain.

3. Create your Google Business Page

It’s always handy creating a Google Business Page. It allows for local reviews, improves SEO, enables users to find out more about your business at a glance, and is easy to manage!

4. Start your Social Media Pages

One of the best ways to get seen, is to start creating content that people can share and/or save on social media. The number 1 rule with social media is to always think about where your audience is! If your target customer is Gen Z, then Facebook is not the platform for you. Instead, you want to focus on Instagram and Tik Tok. So always think about that. Then you can go ahead and start posting!

5. Advertise through Google Ads

Drive traffic to your website by running ads on Google. You want to make sure that your website is optimised for search engines, but it takes a long time before you start appearing on organic searches therefore doing paid ads will be your best friend for the first 6 months.

6. Setup your Email Marketing

Make sure you’re collecting leads and add them to your database so you can start emailing them. Email marketing sometimes gets a bad rep but it’s a useful tool to get in touch with existing customers and ensure that you see brand loyalty with repeat purchases/customers.

There’s a lot here and to be honest, with each step, you can easily dive deeper so if you want some one-on-one time to discuss your business, feel free to contact me!
